To all the Hockey Ministries BC family,

Wayne Halvorson is the
chaplain for the Vernon
Vipers Junior A club
It has been a while since I communicated with you all. Since my last email, Christmas and New Years have come and gone. In the meantime, much has happened in the HMI BC world.

In December, I participated in a conference call regarding the possibility of a new HMI Christian summer hockey camp to be held in the lower mainland area of BC. Also in December, I was invited to the Westside Warriors Christmas Banquet, where I had the honour of praying and giving some spiritual emphasis. The club is has undergone a significant personnel transition, and I am glad to be able to be a help during this time.

Lorraine, the love of my life
Around the Christmas/New Years season, Lorraine, Lane and myself traveled to my sister and brother-in-laws (in Vancouver) for a short visit and then up to Smithers/Houston area to visit our two sons, their wives and our 3 grandchildren. We also spend time with my parents, my other sister, and her family. We are thankful for a great family and also for safe travels on very wintery roads.

With John Bechtold of HMI
Alberta and Zacharie Jean,
chaplain of the WHL
Kamloops Blazers
In January, Lorraine and I traveled to Nanaimo, where I gave an HMI presentation at the Four Square Church. The reception was quite good, as we challenged the people with a fresh look at local missions. The weather on this trip was treacherous and we found ourselves stranded in Langley when the highway was closed.

At the BCHL All Star
game in Vernon
In the middle of the month, I attended the BCHL All Star Game and Banquet in Vernon. At the banquet, I chatted with the Coach of the Prince George Spruce Kings, Ed Dempsey. This was the very first time that I had a warm talk with him, and we set up an appointment to consider a chapel program. This is a miracle! The Spruce Kings are the last BCHL club to finally open up to Hockey Ministries.

These Junior A Westside
players are just having a
great time!
Also on January 24th, Hockey Ministries hosted an outreach breakfast at the NHL All Star weekend in Montreal. NHL stars Shane Doan, Mike Gartner, Laurie Boschman and others shared their testimonies of Christ's love to a packed audience. This is always a highlight event for us at Hockey Ministries.

Finally, Lorraine and I took a week to get away to recharge and relax. We found a great deal and rested in the warm Mexican sun.... that was absolutely wonderful.

Blessing you all so much for your partnership in this ministry,

Serving the Captain together,

Don Richmond,
