Today is Life Chain Sunday. At 1:45 pm hundreds of people from our city are meeting at the Dairy Queen on Harvey and Gordon, taking up signs with “pro-life messages” and standing along Harvey Avenue. As we stand there we will pray silently for those involved in abortion. The event will last for approximately 1.5 hours and will be held rain or shine. I will be there and I invite you to consider joining me.
If you missed last Sunday, I hope you will take time to watch the message online, particularly the testimony given by Elizabeth Sutcliffe who shared passionately about her journey from abortion to hope and healing. You can find the message on our website www.evangelbc.org. It is on the front page and also under sermons. I know you will be blessed.
On a sad note, I need to let you know that our Recovery Pastor, Nick Yelland, has been dealing with some significant depression issues which of we were not fully aware. Last week his depression became unmanageable and landed him in the McNair unit at Kelowna General Hospital. Nick feels this is not a quick fix and so he has applied for a year-long program at a Christian based recovery facility called Wagner Hills located in the Lower Mainland. Please pray for Nick as he takes some significant time away from ministry to achieve a position of wellness. We are thankful for a team of people, under the direction of Thomas and Kristina Maier, who have stepped forward to continue Recovery Church on Friday nights. Please pray for them as they lead this vital ministry during this time.
Always remember that you are loved and cherished by God.
